Polishing shoes on a street in Kabul city, Azim said that he charges 20 Afghanis from a pair of shoes and usually earns 250 to 350 Afghanis daily.Exchange rate of 1 U.S. dollar is 58.10 Afghanis nowadays.
Studying in grade 7th of a local school at day time and often works in the afternoon, the boy said he is the only bread earner of his family which includes his mother and four siblings. Revealing his ordeal, Azim murmured "It is too difficult to work on streets, but there is no option but to work and earn cash" to cover the daily expenses of the family. "My father always comforted me, supported me and promised to buy me a bicycle if I secured top position among my classmates in school," Azim recalled and said "I am grade 7th in school and dreaming of having a bicycle but couldn't in father's absence and lack of money."
Civilian casualties have been on constant rise in the conflict- ridden Afghanistan over the past few years, according to UN report. Although the number of these traditional Chinese alleyways is decreasing as the wrecking ball swings with different excuses of transformation, hutongs still stand in the downtown. Now the city's first public hutong museum has opened on Shijia Hutong Swell Bottle Suomi , one of the most historic of the hutongs.
From Friday, the museum will give visitors the lowdown on how hutongs and the traditional siheyuan courtyard homes that line them have changed over the years.
Shijia Hutong Museum is dedicated to promoting Beijing hutong culture, enriching the intellectual life of local residents, and sustaining a site that evolves constantly with time and presents the living history of hutongs, according to Chen Dapeng, secretary of Chaoyangmen sub-district.
""The exhibition is a footnote to chapters of beauty and the essence of Shijia Hutong Swell Pullo Suomi , and hutongs in general in Beijing, as well as the traditional Beijing hutong lifestyle,"" added Wang Lanshun, who came up with the idea for Shijia Hutong Museum.
