PITTSBURGH -- Hector Olivera was placed on unconditional release waivers by the San Diego Padres, who will release him when he clears waivers later this week and will be responsible for the remainder of the $62.5 million, six-year contract he signed with the Los Angeles Dodgers in early 2015.Olivera, a 31-year-old outfielder and third baseman who did not play a single game for the Padres, hit .245 with two homers and 13 RBI under the deal, appearing in 30 big league games and getting 98 at-bats.
