CLEVELAND -- The Oakland Athletics couldnt contain a power surge by the Indians on Saturday.Starter Dillon Overton allowed three of Clevelands four home runs on the night, as Oakland fell to Cleveland, 6-3.Overton (1-2), who was recalled from Triple-A Nashville before the game, allowed five runs and 10 hits in just 3 1/3 innings, while giving up solo homers to Jason Kipnis, Jose Ramirez and Abraham Almonte. The start was just his fourth of the season for the Athletics. The 24-year-old allowed only three homers over 103 2/3 innings in Triple-A, but has given up six homers in 15 innings with Oakland.Manager Bob Melvin believes the difference involves major league hitters taking advantage of Overtons lack of location.Hes getting a lot of the middle of the plate, Melvin said. They were getting good swings on him.Liam Hendriks allowed Clevelands fourth home run of the game -- a two-run shot to Mike Napoli later in the fourth.Billy Butler clubbed a solo homer off Indians starter Josh Tomlin in the fourth, following some chatter with Cleveland catcher Chris Gimenez. The two exchanged words following a pitch with two outs, before plate umpire Tripp Gibson separated them.On the next pitch, Butler belted a drive that traveled an estimated 440 feet. The designated hitter followed with a bat flip, which began a shouting match between the two players. Gibson stood beside Gimenez as Butler rounded the bases and then issued warnings to both dugouts. Its just tempers flaring, Butler said. It was just a professional disagreement. It all worked itself out.Butler was loudly booed in his next two at-bats and explained that the incident with Gimenez began over a disagreement involving the strike zone.I thought the he mightve just been asking for a little too much, Butler said. I had an issue with him. He took a little bit of an issue with me, we got it out of the way.Oaklands only other run off Tomlin came in the first, when Danny Valencia smacked a two-out RBI single to give the Athletics a 1-0 lead.Marcus Semien added a solo homer- his 22nd of the season- with two outs in the ninth off closer Cody Allen.Reliever Zach Neal, who entered the game with a 6.00 ERA, pitched three scoreless innings to finish the game for Oakland, allowing just one hit.TRADE TIMEOutfielder Billy Burns was traded from Oakland to the Kansas City Royals for outfield prospect Brett Eibner prior to Saturdays game.Burns hit .234 with 12 RBI in 73 games with Oakland this season, while Eisner batted .231 with three homers and 10 RBI in 26 games for the Royals.TRAINERS ROOMAthletics: LHP Rich Hill was placed on the 15-day disabled list with a blister on the middle finger of his pitching hand, a move retroactive to July 20. NEW YORK -- The upcoming Olympic Games are not likely to have a major impact on the spread of Zika virus, although four developing countries could face a substantially higher risk, according to a new government estimate.U.S. researchers tried to calculate whether the Olympics in Rio de Janeiro, which is in the midst of a Zika epidemic, will lead to outbreaks that wouldnt have happened otherwise. The danger is that infected travelers might be bitten by mosquitoes after returning to their home nations, which would potentially spread Zika to other people and spark an outbreak. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention estimated that 19 countries that currently do not have Zika have the right conditions for outbreaks if it is imported by people returning from the Olympics. But in only four of the 19 countries is the issue considered substantial: Yemen, at the southern tip of the Arabian peninsula, and Chad, Djibouti and Eritrea in Africa.CDC researchers made their predictions based on a range of factors, including air travel patterns between Brazil and other countries and the presence of a tropical mosquito that is the main way Zika spreads to people. The four nations at greatest risk from the Olympics generally have no or very few travelers to Zika outbreak countries. Only a dozen to several dozen people are expected to travel to the Rio Games from each of these countries, but those small numbers represent a notable jump from regular traffic volume to outbreak countries, said the CDCs Dr.?Martin Cetron, one of the authors of the report. That doesnt mean health officials are predicting outbreaks in those four countries, Cetron added. The Olympics are happening at a colder time of year in Rio, when mosquito activity is at a minimum. If people take preccautions against mosquito bites, these four countries could be spared Olympics-related outbreaks, he said.ddddddddddddThe Olympic and Paralympic Games are expected to draw an estimated 350,000 to 500,000 international visitors and athletes from 207 countries. But health officials say that travel this year will account for less than 1 percent of international travel to Zika outbreak countries.Last month, the World Health Organization rejected calls by some to cancel the summer Olympics, saying there is a very low risk the Olympics will accelerate the spread of Zika around the world. The new CDC report seems to confirm that assessment, said Justin Lessler, a Johns Hopkins University epidemiologist who focuses on computational approaches to predict the spread of disease.I think the most important result highlighted in this paper is how insignificant the additional risk of global Zika transmission caused by the Olympics is, Lessler said in an email.Earlier this year, the WHO declared Zika a global emergency after seeing an epidemic spreading through Latin America and the Caribbean. In most cases, Zika infections cause, at worst, mild symptoms that disappear within a week. But the WHO declaration was driven by a link between infections in pregnant women and the development of severe brain-related birth defects in their fetuses.Health officials have advised pregnant women to avoid travel to Zika outbreak countries, including Brazil while the Olympics are taking place.Zika can also be spread through sex, and health officials are advising condom use and other precautions for travelers.---Online:CDC report: http://www.cdc.gov/mmwr ' ' '
