ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. -- Wil Myers has some great memories at Tropicana Field.Monday night didnt produce any more.Myers went 1 for 4 in his first game back at the ballpark since a blockbuster trade two years ago, and the San Diego Padres lost 8-2 to the Tampa Bay Rays. The AL Rookie of the Year in 2013 while with the Rays was dealt to the Padres as part of a three-team, 11-player deal in December 2014.When I was here with Tampa, I didnt necessarily know what it was like to be a big leaguer and playing every day, Myers said. I was kind of young and dumb. That kind of comes with the growing pains.Myers has 23 home runs and 21 stolen bases, giving him a chance to become the Padres first 30-30 player.I really felt like this year was the first time Ive really learned how to play the game the right way, Myers said. I wish I could have given Tampa more of that, but its better to learn later than never.Drew Smyly allowed just a solo homer over seven innings of one-hit ball, and Logan Forsythe and Kevin Kiermaier each homered for the Rays.I thought he mixed his pitches well, Myers said. We just didnt play that well, didnt come out with the intensity that we should have early in the game. Thats something we need to fix. I think well do that going forward.Alexei Ramirez hit his fifth homer and Derek Norris walked twice, and those were the only baserunners against Smyly (5-11).Brad Boxberger and Kevin Jepsen completed a three-hitter, with Jepsen allowing a single to Myers and a homer to Yangervis Solarte in the ninth.Forsythe hit his fifth homer in his last 13 games off Luis Perdomo (5-7) to put the Rays up 3-1 in the second. He made some real nice adjustments, but for us offensively we dug too much of a hole, swung up in the zone a lot, Padres manager Andy Green said. We just didnt have very many good at-bats against Smyly.Kiermaier had a three-run drive in a five-run eighth that made it 8-1. He had three hits and two stolen bases.Logan Morrison had an RBI double and Forsythe added a sacrifice fly during the eighth.Perdomo allowed three runs and five hits in 5 2/3 innings. He hit two batters during the first, including Morrison with the bases loaded.TRAINERS ROOMPadres: RHP Tyson Ross (right shoulder inflammation) will throw batting practice Tuesday.MOVING DAYPadres: INF Luis Sardinas was acquired from Seattle for cash considerations or a player to be named and optioned to Triple-A El Paso. Pollock on Friday. Pollock, an All-Star in 2015, had been on the disabled list after re-fracturing his right elbow in an exhibition game three days before the start of the regular season. He was activated Friday and went 0-for-5, although his slow grounder to second base in the 10th inning drove in Phil Gosselin to tie the game at 3, forcing another inning.Itss like opening day for me, Pollock said.dddddddddddd You have to get all of the first stuff out of the way. It was good to be out there.Pollock received nice ovations each time he batted, and he made a stretching catch to take extra-bases away from Cincinnati second baseman Brandon Phillips on a long fly to right-center field for the second out of the fourth inning.I felt good out there, Pollock said. Physically, it is not an issue any more. It is good to be out there with the team, and to get this win is huge.Cincinnati got another strong outing Friday from left-hander Brandon Finnegan, who struck out a career high 12 in six innings. He struck out the side in the first and fifth innings, and he gave up only three hits. Finnegan struck out eight and gave up one hit in seven scoreless innings in his previous start against the Dodgers.Everything was working for me and I was hitting spots, Finnegan said. It was a good night.Arizona kept Cincinnatis hottest bat, Joey Votto, at arms length in the first game of the series. Votto was 1-for-3 with a single and three walks (two intentional). Arizona intentionally walked him with runners on first and third and two outs in the ninth inning to bring up Adam Duvall with the game tied at 2. Duvall flew out to deep center.Votto was walked with a runner on second base and two outs in the 11th to get to the pitchers spot in the order, and the Reds were unable to capitalize that time either.Votto hit .413 in July and is hitting .418 with 22 RBI in August. He is attempting to become the first major leaguer since 2010 to hit .400 in consecutive months since Josh Hamilton hit .454 in June and .418 in July for Texas in 2010. ' ' '
