There are some losses where the effort cannot be questioned and this game was one of those. At the Olympic break the Blues lead the Central Division, while the Jets are right in the thick of the playoff race for the final spot in the Western Conference. All four games between these two teams have been decided by one goal, two via shootout. The Jets finish the four game road trip at 2-1-1, for five of a possible eight points. The Blues opened the scoring with Brenden Morrow getting his 10th of the year, with Mark Scheifele on a nice down low pass from Devin Setoguchi tying things up. Zach Bogosian also drew an assist on the goal, Scheifeles 12th of the year. The Blues regained the lead on a favourable bounce, off the referees skate and onto the stick of Morrow who set up Derek Roy for his first in 25 games. Shots in the first were 8-7 for the Jets. Mid-way through the second, Scheifele drove the net and scored on a back-hand to tie the game, Blake Wheeler and Chris Thorburn drew assists. It gives Scheifele 13 on the year and his second two-goal game of the year. The goal came after the Jets killed off a double minor to Olli Jokinen, with Thorburn getting called during the penalty kill, sending the Blues onto a minute long five-on-three. A successful penalty kill kept the Jets perfect this year when down two men. They are nine-for-nine in just under 11 minutes of time spend down two men. Shots in the second were 11-6 Jets. A goal in the first minute of the third by Jaden Schwartz put the Blues back in front, but on their fifth power play of the game, a goal by Dustin Byfuglien tied the game for the Jets. Wheeler carried the puck into the Blues zone, dropped it for Byfuglien and his blast went off a body in front and in. Tobias Enstrom also assisted on the goal. Byfuglien has six goals and 14 assists on the Jets 28 power play goals. The Jets had a great chance to get the go ahead goal late in the third, only to have Brian Elliot make a great save off Scheifele. Shots in the third favoured St. Louis 10-9 as the game headed to overtime. Three shots by each team in overtime did not decide a winner, sending the game to a shootout, with T.J. Oshie and Vladimir Tarasenko scoring for the Blues, while neither Bryan Little nor Andrew Ladd could beat Brian Elliot. With the two-point game, Wheeler goes into the Olympic break leading the Jets in scoring with 48 points, including a team-leading 22 goals. He is one point ahead of Little, Byfuglien third at 43. Byfuglien finished the day with eight shots on goal to lead the team, while Little took 29 face-offs, winning 19. On the night the Jets penalty kill, second best in the NHL on the road, was the story, going eight-for-eight, including a minute of being down two men. Big minutes in the game for Bogosian at 28:35, Enstrom 27:40 and Jacob Trouba 25:31. “We played a hell of a game,” stated Coach Paul Maurice post-game. “We were down three times, battled back, big power play goal, fantastic penalty kill. They a few lucky hops. [It was a] solid game, Im real happy with it. “I dont put any stock in the shootout deciding how we played, we played a great game. We have to come back after the break with the same confidence that weve earned. Im proud of the way we played.” The Jets will return from the break and start workouts on Feb. 19, with the outdoor practice at the Forks scheduled for the 23rd. Next game action is the 27th, home against Phoenix (TSN Jets, TSN 1290). They will finish with 22 games in 44 days, 15 vs. the Western Conference. Marquez Valdes-Scantling Jersey . The whole deflation of New England Patriots footballs is like a murder mystery without the violence or significance. On one side, this is a ridiculous issue. DeShone Kizer Packers Jersey .com) - Nathan MacKinnon scored the winning goal in the shootout as the Colorado Avalanche rallied for a 3-2 win over the Boston Bruins on Wednesday. http://www.packersrookiestore.com/Packers-Muhammad-Wilkerson-Jersey/ .The other side of the Bruins special teams unit delivered in the end.Gregory Campbell netted the game-winner with less than 10 minutes remaining and the Bruins fended off a late four-minute San Jose power play to earn a wild 5-3 win over the Sharks. Now, it is instead a suspended game that will resume at 4:05 p. Jaire Alexander Jersey . Future Hall of Famer Ricky Ray is in his prime and back for a third season in double blue. The 34-year old was magnificent in 2013, throwing for just under 2,900 yards despite missing eight games, tossing an impressive 21 touchdowns against just two interceptions, completing 66 per cent of his passes in the process.Steve Downie with a big return to the Colorado lineup, Jonathan Bernier strong in his Maple Leafs debut, Detroit dominated a 2-1 game and more. 1. After missing nearly all of last season after wrecking his knee, Avalanche RW Steve Downie posted a Gordie Howe Hat Trick (goal, assist, fight) against Anaheim. Downie skated alongside Matt Duchene and Ryan OReilly on Colorados top line, before tangling with Ryan Getzlaf will 1:07 remaining in the third period of Colorados 6-1 win. In leagues that count PIM, Downie is potential gold -- one of three (Steve Ott and Scott Hartnell are the others) to have at least 100 points and 500 penalty minutes since the start of the 2009-2010 season. 2. Speaking of Ryan OReilly, he looked great moving to the wing from centre, generating six shots on goal and playing 19:47. OReilly has 75 points in 110 games over the past couple seasons, but if he sticks with Duchene, that could present an opportunity to raise his offensive output. 3. Jonathan Bernier made his Maple Leafs debut, in Philadelphia, Wednesday and stopped 31 of 32 shots for the win. While Im among those who think that the Maple Leafs will have a hard time matching their percentages from last season, if 25-year-old Bernier is ready to take a step forward, then he and James Reimer could conceivably give Toronto above-average goaltending and that would be half the battle. For now, it appears as though the Leafs have a competition in crease. 4. Avalanche C Nathan MacKinnon had a pair of assists in his NHL debut, setting up LW Jamie McGinn. It was an impressive first game, though MacKinnon could use work in the face-off dot, where he was 2-for-14 (14.3%) on draws. 5. Maple Leafs C Dave Bolland notched a pair of goals at Philadelphia, and while the Leafs juggled lines, Bolland spent more time with Nikolai Kulemin and Joffrey Lupul. 5. Avalanche G Semyon Varlamov delivered a strong performance, turning back 35 of 36 Ducks shots, missing a shutout by seven seconds on a late goal by Jakob Silfverberg. If the Avalanche are going to rise up this season, its not going to be on the forwards scoring, its more likely going to be because of an improvement in goal. Consider, Varlamov had a .903 save percentage last season, but if he managed a .918 save percentage on 1600 shots (approx. 55 starts), that would make a 24-goal diffference.dddddddddddd. Maybe not enough to get them to the playoffs, but enough to make the Avs competitive. 6. Maple Leafs C Nazem Kadri isnt getting any free passes early in the year. After playing 17:38 against Montreal opening night, Kadri played only 11:53 at Philadelphia; he played more than 12 minutes in 46 of 48 regular-season game last season. Kadri did see some time between Joffrey Lupul and Phil Kessel -- an intriguing offensive combination -- but played nearly as much with Mason Raymond and Troy Bodie, so it wasnt a banner night. 7. Detroit dominated Buffalo, taking 80% of the shot attempts when the score was close yet, aside from a pair of goals 36 seconds apart in the middle of the first period, they couldnt get anything else past Ryan Miller. Digging deeper on that 80% number, according to www.extraskater.com, the Wings top two lines didnt surrender a shot attempt against when the score was close. 8. Amid that territorial domination, however, the Sabres did get to within a goal in the third period when rookie LW Zemgus Girgensons lifted a rebound over Jimmy Howard. Girgensons was one of five rookies playing for the Sabres and the two defencemen, Rasmus Ristolainen and Mark Pysyk, tied for the team lead with three shots on goal. Ristolainen also had a turnover that led to Detroits second goal, but its rough business when your 18-year-old defenceman gets stuck out there against Pavel Datsyuk. 9. Flyers C Claude Giroux played 26:02 against Toronto, more than he played in any game last season, though he topped 27 minutes six times in 2011-2012. While Giroux, Brayden Schenn and Scott Hartnell didnt have great possesion stats against the Maple Leafs, Philadelphias second line -- Vincent Lecavalier, Matt Read and Jakob Voracek -- was dominant. 10. With Toronto D Mark Fraser reportedly hobbling after a foot injury, it seems likely that rookie D Morgan Rielly will get to make his NHL debut soon. Too soon to place expectation on Rielly as an offensive contributor, but with Fraser hurt and both Paul Ranger and Jake Gardiner struggling at times in the first two games, there may be an opportunity to move up.
