The 49ers dropped a wild one to the New York Giants on Monday Night Football by a final score of 27-23. The 49ers fall to 2-8, while the Giants improve to 2-7. The 49ers move into the No. 2 spot in the draft order behind the Oakland Raiders. The fourth quarter was an absurdly wild finish to the game. The Giants took their eventual game-winning lead after back-and-forth penalties between the two teams. The 49ers got the ball back with a little over 50 seconds left, and managed to get down to the Giants 21 yard line with one second left. Mullens took his shot at the end zone but threw it out of anybody’s reach.Mullens’ second start did not go as well as his first start, but he also saw a couple bad breaks cost him. He finished the game completing 27 of 38 passes for 250 yards, with a touchdown and two interceptions. The first interception came on a bad throw across the field to the far sideline that Mullens did not have the arm strength to complete. The second interception came on a pass that bounced off Marquise Goodwin’s hands. That final Giants drive was brutal, but there were some positives to take from the game. Matt Breida looks healthy once again, rushing 17 times for 101 yards. George Kittle remains a machine, catching nine passes for 83 yards. Richard Sherman is looking good, mostly shutting down his side aside from a 13-yard Odell Beckham reception and a bad defensive pass interference call.On the other hand, the inconsistency of the pass rush reared its ugly head. The 49ers got one sack, and only a few pressures on Eli Manning all night. Ahkello Witherspoon regressed after a couple solid games. The 49ers got some big catches from Marquise Goodwin and Kendrick Bourne http://www.49erscheapshops.com/cheap-authentic-pierre-garcon-jersey , but the group is still shaky. It was not an awful night for the 49ers by any stretch, but we saw some of the holes on full display. The 49ers have plenty to work on over the coming couple weeks. Speaking of which...Up next: BYE WEEKThe 49ers get the next week off, which is right in the middle of their most significant stretch of time off. San Francisco 49ers tight end George Kittle had a big game on Thursday in the win over the Oakland Raiders. I realize this is not shocking news. He caught four passes for 108 yards and a touchdown, highlighted by this insane 71-yard catch-and-run.After the game, Kittle said, “I closed my eyes, 100-percent ... I just kind of stuck an arm out there and it fell in my hand.”Through nine games, Kittle has 41 receptions for 692 yards and three touchdowns. That puts him on pace for 72 receptions, 1 Cheap Solomon Thomas Jersey ,230 yards, and five touchdowns. He’s currently third among tight ends in receptions and first in yards.Earlier this week, Pro Football Focus put together their midseason All Pro team. They have been big on Kittle, and included him on the team. He currently ranks first among tight ends in yards per route run, and is eighth in pass blocking grade.Travis Kelce is likely to earn traditional media All Pro honors, in part because he’s a great tight end, but also because he is a notable name. Kittle will likely be competing with Zach Ertz for second team All Pro honors. Kittle is better than both as a run blocker, and has emerged as a dynamic pass catcher in his second year. The 49ers hit an absolute home run with their 2017 fifth round pick, and have a core piece around which to build their offense.
