The Los Angeles Dodgers are reportedly close to locking up reliever J.P. Howell. According to MLB.com, the Dodgers and Howell are closing in on a two-year contract with a vesting option for a third. The first two years of the deal would reportedly be worth a total of $11.25 million, with $6.25 million available to Howell in the third year should he make 120 appearances over the next two years combined. In 67 games with the Dodgers last season, Howell posted a 4-1 record with a 2.03 earned-run average and a 1.05 WHIP.
