Youth DeForest Buckner jersey , Richard Sherman Week 3 press conferences The San Francisco 49ers return to practice on Thursday as they continue preparations for their Week 3 road game against the Kansas City Chiefs. The Chiefs are on fire right now, thanks primarily to Patrick Mahomes and his host of weapons. The game is set to kickoff at 10:00 a.m. PT on FOX. Defensive coordinator Robert Saleh is meeting with the media at 12:40 p.m., and he will be followed by cornerback Richard Sherman. Sherman has spoken to the media the past couple weeks, but this is the first time it’s been mentioned in the media availability release. He spoke regularly in Seattle during game weeks, so this is not surprising. They will be followed by locker room availability from 12:45 to 1:30 p.m. The team hits the practice field at 1:50 p.m. Practice is open to the media until team drills begin, and we’ll get a practice participation report following the session. The 49ers will stream the press conferences Twitter http://www.49ersauthorizedshops.com/authentic-arik-armstead-jersey , Facebook, and the team’s app. The 49ers beat writers will also have updates from the media sessions. I’ve embedded our beat writer Twitter list so you can follow along. We’ll have transcripts later today.A Twitter List by NinersNation49ers may have stumbled onto something with Greg Mabin The San Francisco 49ers defense gave up a lot of key plays against the Los Angeles Chargers on Sunday. The lack of tackling fundamentals was nothing short of maddening and the pass-rush was atrocious, as is becoming tradition. One shining light to stand out was cornerback Greg Mabin. Mabin played 29 snaps in relief of Ahkello Witherspoon and later Jimmie Ward after the latter was benched, but he had some great highlights on the day. The most memorable being when he punched out the ball from Melvin Gordon’s hands. Unfortunately, the ensuing fumble was recovered by a player out of bounds, so no dice. Outside of the fumble Jaquiski Tartt jersey , Mabin was targeted five times and allowed two receptions for 18 yards. This, along with the fumble was enough to put Mabin Pro Football Focus’ Week 4 Team of the Week with a 89.2 ranking, joining fellow teammate tight end George Kittle. Here’s what PFF had to say about Mabin on the team: 49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan was also pleased with Mabin’s performance and went into detail on the cornerback at Monday’s press conference: This is just one game, but the 49ers may have stumbled onto something with Mabin. They have had issues at the cornerback position, mostly due to players being healthy. If Mabin is not a starting cornerback (which we will find out in the coming weeks) he definitely could provide solid depth for the position which would let the 49ers focus on other positions (like a pass rusher) come draft time in 2019.
